Cleveland Preparatory Academy is a public charter school serving students in Kindergarten Early Education through 8th grade in Cleveland, Ohio. Ohio’s state report card rates every school, and Cleveland Prep earned its biggest jump in that rating last school year, posting a Performance Index score of 64.7 in 2024–25, up from 51.4 the year before. That’s a more than 25 percent increase in one year, and Ohio recognized it as one of the top gains in the state.

Cleveland Prep is built around high academics. That means the instruction here is structured and intentional: every lesson is designed to advance what a student actually knows and can do. The higher expectations aren’t an add-on for students who are already ahead. They’re the method for every student, at every grade level. When the work is consistently challenging, students rise to meet it. That’s what the numbers are showing.

The school is also a bilingual community — families and staff work closely together, and academic progress is recognized on a weekly basis so students know their effort is being seen, not just measured at the end of the year.

It’s a publicly funded school. There’s no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.

Community School

Cleveland Preparatory Academy is a public, community school. We are our own school district sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Office of School Sponsorship, which provides oversight and enforces academic, fiscal, and legal accountability. We are managed by ACCEL Schools, a high performing network of over 50 charter schools located throughout the United States.

Community Schools (Charter Schools) offer families an alternative to the local public school. Founded in 2014, ACCEL Schools is a K-12 public charter school management organization (CMO) serving students across the United States in brick-and-mortar, virtual, and hybrid school settings. We focus on improving academic outcomes of students regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic factors. The leadership team at ACCEL Schools has a combined 1000+ years of experience as global school management operators with expertise in curriculum research and design, assessment, student support services, and education consulting. Our entire team fundamentally believes that all children deserve a great education and students should be supported as they pursue a wide variety of post-secondary options.
