CLPA – PumpkinPalooza – October 7 – 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Come join in the fall fun with Cleveland Prep, your neighborhood tuition-free, public charter school! Enjoy a caramel apple and fall festivities. We will be giving out mini pumpkins with carving kits for your family to enjoy! While you are here, you can learn more about our school and meet the staff! Social distancing guidelines will be followed during this event.

 

NO SCHOOL – COLUMBUS DAY – Monday, October 12, 2020

School will be closed for students and staff in observance of our national holiday Columbus Day.

 

Assessment Testing – (AIR Mock Assessments and 3rd Grade AIR Test)

Assessment Testing such as Mock AIR Assessments (3-8) and 3rd Reading Guarantee will be occurring during the month of October. Because of the testing, we will ensure a healthy balance of testing and instruction occurs.
Dates are:
Mock AIR Assessments (Grades 3 – 8)– Week of Oct 5
3RD GRADE AIR Test – Week of Oct 19 – 21

 

NO SCHOOL – Parent Teacher Conferences: Friday, October 23 – TBA

Please schedule a meeting with your scholar’s teacher. This will be a great opportunity to become more aware and communicate your scholar’s social and academic experience in their classrooms.

 

Quarter I Report Cards Mailed home: Monday, October 26

Quarter I will be closing on October 22 and report cards will be mailed home on Monday, October 26.

 

Teacher In-Service Day: NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 26

In order to help continue to develop and grow our teachers and leaders, we will be having a Teacher In-Service Day. This day will allow for our staff to attend professional developments, workshops and training. There is no school for all students.

 

School Specific Safety Information:
  • The key priority will be the safety and well-being of all students and staff members at CLPA
  • We will be practicing social distancing measures in all areas of the building including the classrooms
  • Face mask coverings are required for all people in the building
  • Hand washing and sanitizing routines for all people in the building
  • Maintenance cleaning in all areas of the building

Cleveland Prep’s Superintendent Interviewed on 90.3fm WCPN

Iteisha Bankston, Superintendent of Cleveland Preparatory Academy, was interviewed on IdeaStream, Cleveland’s NPR station 90.3fm WCPN. In the interview Bankston discusses the safety guidelines ACCEL Schools is following to keep students healthy and safe as they return to school for the 2020-21 school year. The discussion additionally included information about the three learning options families can choose from this school year: Traditional (5 days at school), Online (5 days at home), and Hybrid (mixed).

First Day of School – August 24

Classes officially begin for all of our students

Learning Options for 20-21 School Year at CLPA – (All families are required to choose one of the three options)

Traditional: In-person learning at the school building with added safety protocols and procedures. Students are expected to
attend school 5 days of week.
Online: At-home learning supported by teachers, technology, and curriculum specifically built for online learning. Families will
need to sign technology agreement and will receive a Chromebook.
Hybrid: A mix of Traditional and Online learning with in-person and at-home components. Families will need to sign technology
agreement and will receive a Chromebook. Students are expected to attend school only on Mondays and Tuesdays of each week.

Chromebook Pick-up Information

Families that chose the Hybrid or Virtual Learning Option are to pick up their chrome books from the school on these designated
days within their student’s specific grade band. Each family will be required to complete technology agreement in order to
receive Chromebook.
(K – 4  Grades Only) – Thursday, August 20, 2020 – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
(5 – 8  Grades Only) – Friday, August 21, 2020 – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

20-21 Learning Options for Students

We are happy to announce that our students will have multiple learning options for the 20-21 school year:

  • Traditional  In-person learning at the school building with added safety protocols and procedures.
  • Online At-home learning supported by teachers, technology, and curriculum specifically built for online learning.
  • Hybrid A mix of Traditional and Online learning with in-person and at-home components.

Over the coming weeks we will be releasing more detailed information. Please:

  1. Check your email, school website & Facebook page the Week of July 13 for further description of these models including logistical details like safety protocols, technology, and transportation.
  2. Plan to attend our upcoming Online 20-21 School Year Information Session—date and time will be announced soon!
  3. After attending the info session, please select the option for your student(s) by Friday, July 31st. Your student will be enrolled in the Traditional Cohort unless we hear a different selection from you by 7/31. To select your options, visit: www.accelschools.com/Fall2020

Free School Meals

We offer free breakfast and lunch to students through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), a federally-assisted meal program that provides nutritionally balanced, USDA-compliant meals to students each school day.

Early Entrance to Kindergarten

Our early entrance policy allows students who turn five years old by January 1st to register for Kindergarten. As part of the registration process, students must take a brief Kindergarten assessment. For more information, call (216) 741-2991 today, or apply by clicking here.

All Teachers Properly Certified & Licensed

All teachers meet the educator qualification requirements outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Ohio Revised Code: Bachelor’s degree, grade-level teaching license/certificate & ability to demonstrate subject area expertise.
